WebNearsightedness or myopia is the inability of the eye to focus on distant objects. The nearsighted eye has no difficulty viewing nearby objects. But the ability to view distant objects requires that the light be refracted less. Nearsightedness will result if the light from distant objects is refracted more than is necessary. A near-sighted individual can see clearly out to a certain distance (the far point of the eye), but objects placed beyond this distance appear blurred. If the extent of the myopia is great enough, even standard reading distances can be affected. Upon routine examination of the eyes, the vast majority of myopic eyes appear structurally identical to nonmyopic eyes.

WebFeb 9, 2024 · Most atomistic ML approaches rely on the nearsightedness principle (“all chemistry is local”), using information about the position of an atom’s neighbors to predict a per-atom energy. In this work, we develop a framework that exploits the nearsighted nature of ML models to systematically produce an appropriate training set for large ...
WebDec 26, 2024 · methods use the nearsightedness principle, which asserts that the density perturbation induced by a local change in the external potential decays exponentially away from where the perturbation is applied.
